Wayne Glass, a record-setting pitcher in his time at Southern Arkansas went 11-1 in 1983 and helped that year's Mulerider baseball team reach the program's first-ever NAIA World Series. Among the records Glass set at SAU were: most pitching appearances in a career (71), most pitching appearances in a season (22 – 1985), most wins in a career (32), most innings pitched in a career (349 IP), and most inning pitched in a season (100.1 – 1985). To date, Glass still holds the career appearances record.
