    Modern Era Student-Athlete, Softball
Krystal Poulin arrived at Southern Arkansas in 2002, just three years after the softball program was established in 1999. By the time Poulin left SAU in 2004, she established herself as the best pitcher in the program's brief history and that distinction stands in many regards to this day.

In her time in the circle, Poulin set 16 school records, 14 of which still stand today. Perhaps one of the most dominant pitchers in Gulf South Conference (GSC) at the time, Poulin is the only pitcher in SAU history to throw a perfect game; a feat she accomplished twice in her career. Poulin has also thrown four no-hitters.

A two-time GSC First-Team selection, Poulin was also a two-time GSC All-Academic Team selection as well as a two-time Academic All-America. SAU's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004, Poulin was also the recipient of the coveted GSC Commissioner's Trophy that same year.

The GSC Commissioner's Trophy is the most significant individual honor in the GSC as it is awarded annually to the student-athlete who best combines outstanding performance on the field or court and high academic achievement in the classroom with significant community service and extracurricular activities. In receiving that award, Poulin became the first female at SAU to earn the distinction
