David Alpe, a three-time All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference (AIC) football player during the late 50's and early 60's went on to enjoy a sustained and very successful high school coaching career after his graduation. Alpe, synonymous with Malvern High football and athletics, spent 36 years as the Leopards' head football coach while also serving as the school's athletic director. At the helm of Malvern, Alpe coached 16 conference championship teams and won a state championship in 1993. Alpe finished his high school coaching career with a record of 235-142-5.
