Dawson Athletic Complex

Southern Arkansas University and Mulerider Athletics officially dedicated the newly-finished Dawson Athletic Complex on October 30, 2021 in front of fans, administration, coaches, student-athletes, and donors.

The 175' wide by 190' foot long by 50' foot tall facility is located directly to the east of Wilkins Stadium at Rip Powell Field and features a 60-yard turfed field with field markings for multiple sports and state-of-the-art LED lighting.

"This facility has been a goal for many years and with it now becoming a reality, it's like a dream come true," remarked SAU Director of Athletics Steve Browning. "To be able to give our programs a place to practice when the weather is not cooperating will certainly help us to continue to raise the bar of excellence in Mulerider Athletics. I cannot say "Thank You" enough to those involved that have helped get us to where we are today in regards to this transformational facility that will have a positive impact on Mulerider Athletics for years to come!"

The facility was entirely funded through private support from alumni and friends, and it now provides an immediate impact to over 450 student-athletes, coaches and administrators that make up the 14 athletic programs at SAU.
