James Pettitt, played and dominated both on the offensive and defensive line during the early 1960s at Southern Arkansas.
    
In his senior season of 1961, Pettitt was named as an AP Little All-America Honorable Mention offensive tackle in addition to being named All-AIC First-Team at that same position. A year prior, as a junior, Pettitt would earn All-AIC honors on both sides of the ball as he was a First-Team offensive tackle and a Second-Team defensive tackle.
 
After his collegiate playing days were through, Pettitt would serve as a coach and administrator at El Dorado for many years.
