GULF SHORES, Ala. — Spring Break has come and gone, and Mulerider Women's Tennis capped it off with a much-needed victory against the Spring Hill College Badgers, with Southern Arkansas winning the match with a 4-3 final score.
In doubles action, the Blue and Gold was down at the start with the Badgers winning line three by default. The unit then countered with winning line one, as Taylor Conway and Roksana Kokocha won the match with a 6-2 final. To decide the point, the Badgers retaliated with a 7-5 win at line two over Jolina Mass and Isabella Lazzerini.
The Muleriders needed to then turn their attention to singles play in order come back to win the match, as Southern Arkansas went down 2-0 with SHC winning line six by default. Starting the comeback for SAU was Lazzerini at line four with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win, making its 2-1. The Badgers came right back with win at line five, taking the point with a 6-2, 6-1 final, going back up two at 3-1. That ended up being SHC's final point of the match, as the Muleriders' top three line came in clutch for the Blue and Gold. At line one, Mass claimed the group's second point with a 6-1, 6-2 final, 3-2. At line three, Conway tied it up with a 6-1, 6-1 final, 3-3. And to win the match, Kokocha took care of business and clinched with a 6-2, 6-4 final, winning the match at 4-3.
