MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Mulerider Cross Country gears up for another outing, as both men and women get set and ready to take off at the Old Glory Gallop, hosted by Dallas Baptist University on Saturday (October 11).
Mulerider Men
Last weekend, Southern Arkansas stayed in state for the University of Arkansas' annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayettville, Arkansas. The Mulerider Men ran amongst teams of all divisions (DI, DII, DIII, JUCO) in the McDonnell Memorial 8K and capped off their run in 28th place after scoring 746 points. The Mulerider Women competed in the Prairie Fire Pepper 5K along with groups from many divisions of college athletics. The group had a very impressive outing after all members crossed the finish line and claimed 11th place out of 25 teams with their 294 points.
For the men, Southern Arkansas' top finisher ended up being Wesley Maxwell after the senior recorded a time of 25:58.4 and placed 119th in the vast 285-runner field. Also finishing inside the top 200 for the Muleriders was senior Isaac Gass, who placed 183rd with a time of 26:54.6. The Jessieville, Arkansas native set a new personal best, breaking the 27-minute barrier for the first time in his career.
Mulerider Women
Leading the way for the Muleriders in the deep field was sophomore Rylee Robinson, who clocked a 19:49.8 to finish 42nd overall. The Fort Worth, Texas native notched a new personal best, edging out her previous mark by two milliseconds. Her performance helped highlight a strong team showing that featured five top-100 finishers and two inside the top 50.
Close behind Robinson was senior Ava Zindler, who placed 48th with a time of 20:02.1. Following her was Rachel Solano, crossing the line in 65th at 20:24.7 to set a new personal best. Sophomore Kailee Carr continued the streak of strong performances, finishing 85th with a career-best 20:48.9. Rounding out the Muleriders' top-100 finishers was Cantley Gosdin, whose 21:01.3 time earned her 94th place overall.
