MONTICELLO, Ark. — Competition at the 2025 GAC Cross Country Championships has concluded. Mulerider Cross Country saw improvements around the board for both squads. The Mulerider Women ran in the championship 5K, as the group finished eighth in the outing with a score of 221. SAU's Men capped off their run in Monticello in fifth after they tallied 142 points in the championship 8K, and even saw an All-GAC Second Team member in Wesley Maxwell.
For the women, the group's highest finisher ended up being sophomore Rylee Robinson. The native out of Fort Worth, Texas, finished first for the Muleriders after placing 32nd, out of 162 runners, with her time of 18:55.3. The mark also marks a new personal best for the sophomore.
A few steps behind Robinson was the lone senior for the women, as Ava Zindler placed 35th in the 5K run with her best performance to date at the GAC Championship with a time of 18:59.9.
The remaining Muleriders to finish included Rachel Solano (64th | 19:41.0 | PR), Cantley Gosdin (80th | 20:06.38 | PR), Madyson Pence (82nd | 20:10.0 | PR), Kaylie Goad (83rd | 20:10.6 | PR), Kailee Carr (95th | 20:28.9 | PR), Savanah Esterline (111th | 20:54.3), Cheyenne Olson (127th | 21:29.5), and Faith Gibbs (131st | 21:42.6 | PR).
For the men, crossing the finish line first for Southern Arkansas was senior Wesley Maxwell,. The native of Magnolia, Texas recorded a career-best time for the 8K, after finishing in 17th, and clocking in a time of 25:03.5. As mentioned, with his showing, Maxwell claimed the honor of being named to the All-GAC Second Team.
Finishing next for the Blue and Gold was Lyndon Orr, who just missed a spot in the Second Team for the all-conference awards after he finished 22nd with his time of 25:22.9. Even though Orr did not earn a all-league honor, the senior did record a career-high time for the 8K.
Southern Arkansas saw two more members of the Blue and Gold finish inside the top 40, as Fintan Lehmann claimed 36th-place with his time of 25:54.6. Lehmann was trailed by teammate Jack Landrum, but not by much, as the freshman earned a new personal best in the distance, after clocking in at 25:59.9 to place him in 39th.
Remaining Muleriders to finish include Hez Morris (54th | 26:34.4 | PR), Diego Moya (59th | 26:43.7 | PR), Joseph Uc (61st | 26:45.8 | PR), Myson McFall (62nd | 26:47.9 | PR), Zach McMillon (64th | 26:50.6 | PR), Hunter Pye (68th | 27:00.5 | PR), Gary Smith (69th | 27:14.6), Charles Patton (71st | 27:16.6), Brandon Escobar (73rd | 27:25.4), Isaac Gass (79th | 27:36.7), and Johnny Hart (86th | 28:20.1).
