Mulerider Cross Country set multiple personal records at Old Glory Gallop

GRAND PRAIRE, Texas – Mulerider Cross Country went on the road to Grand Prairie, Texas for the Old Glory Gallop hosted by Dallas Baptist University. As the Muleriders competed in the meet in Grand Prairie last year, they recorded ten individual personal bests and they were only two away from doing the same this year as four Mulerider Women and four Mulerider Men set new personal bests.
 
The Mulerider Women ran their 5k with a cumulative time of 1:40:04.2 and placed nineteenth out of the 46 competing teams. They recorded 687 points, putting them 49 points behind McMurry and 25 points ahead of Prairie View. Senior Logan Warren
recorded the fastest finish of her team as she crossed the finish line with a time of 19:07.1 and placed 88th in the 420-runner field. Junior Ava Zindler finished 129th with a time of 19:43.3, setting a brand new personal record in the 5k. Freshman Savanah Esterline's performance at the Old Glory Gallop also gave her a new career best as she crossed the finish line with a time of 19:55.3, placing 136th. Her new personal best is almost two minutes faster than her old one.
 
Freshman Rylee Robinson also set a new career best time as she crossed the finish line with a time of 20:08.4, placing 144th. Cheyenne Olson ran the course at 21:10.1 and finished 190th. Alyzah McGlasson finished 256th with a time of 23:23.6, and Emma Dudley finished with a new personal best of 23:38.1, finishing 262nd.
 
The Mulerider Men finished fourteenth in the 41-team field with 410 points, only 7 points behind Our Lady of the Lake and 115 points ahead of UT-Dallas. The team combined for a cumulative time of 2:09:53.9, and just like the women they recorded four individual new career best times. Wesley Maxwell was the first of the Mulerider Men to cross the finish line and recorded a 64th place finish with a time of 25:38.7. Freshman Fintan Lehman finished only seven seconds behind Maxwell recording a new career best time in the 8k of 25:45.0, placing 71st. The freshmen Lyndon Orr (78th; 25:50.2), Enrico Tapia (88th; 26:04.9), and Gary Smith (109th; 26:35.1) all set new individual career best times.
 
Brandon Escobar crossed the finish line placing 154th with a time of 27:30.4, and Isaac Gass finished 163rd with a time of 27:36.7.
 
The Mulerider Cross Country teams are back in action on Friday (Oct. 11) as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to compete in the Tiger Invitational hosted by Ouachita Baptist.
