RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced on Wednesday that Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis true freshman
Amelie Gindl has been named the league's Player of the Week for the first time in her young Mulerider career.
Gindl played a key part of Southern Arkansas posting a 2-0 record in Texas over the weekend. The Muleriders beat UT-Tyler 4-3 and edged #13 St. Mary's 4-3 in back-to-back days. SAU is 6-0 to start the season and is up to #22 nationally, the program's highest ranking ever, in the latest ITA DII Top 25.
Against the Patriots, Gindl along with doubles teammate
Lisa Lochter beat UTT's Anna Melnik and Luisa Moraes 6-3 at No. 3 to help SAU grab the opening point. She then picked a three-set win at No. 3 as she battled back from a 6-3 opening set loss to win 6-2, 6-0 over the Patriot's Kanika Sivaraman.
The following day, the Mönchhof, Austria native again teamed up with Lochter and the pair won a tight decision over SMU's Janel Ospanova and Stela Sifuentes 7-6 (7-5). She again proved clutch at No. 3 beating the Rattler's Alessia Terlizzi 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
Gindl has won five straight singles matches and is 4-0 when playing from No. 3. In doubles action, Gindl is a combined 5-0 with a 3-0 mark with Lochter and a 2-0 record when playing with Jose Holderbach.

Southern Arkansas returns to action this weekend with matches against Western New Mexico (3/1), Lubbock Christian (3/1), Emporia State (3/2) and #5 (JUCO) Weatherford College (3/2).
