MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Mulerider Track and Field team is set to compete in their second outdoor meet of the season at the 2025 Ouachita Invite, hosted by Ouachita Baptist University at the Hickingbotham Family Track & Field in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The meet is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, and will feature a full slate of field and running events.
The competition begins at 10:00 AM with several field events taking place simultaneously. The Javelin event will see men competing first, followed by the women, while Shot Put will begin with the women and be followed by the men's competition. The Long Jump will also start at 10:00 AM, with the women's event preceding the men's. Pole Vault will follow the same format, with the women's event taking place first. At 12:00 PM, the High Jump competition will get underway, beginning with the men's event. Meanwhile, the Discus event will take place following the conclusion of the Javelin, and the Triple Jump will follow the Long Jump.
The running events also begin at 10:00 AM, starting with the 10,000-meter run for women, followed by the men's 10,000-meter race at 10:45 AM. The remainder of the running events will begin at 1:00 PM, kicking off with the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Following that, athletes will compete in various sprint and distance events, including the 4x100 relay, 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and the 5,000-meter run, before the meet concludes with the 4x400 relay.
The Muleriders enter this meet following an impressive showing in their previous competition. Ashlynn Dickey secured first place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.60m, while Diamond Brunn delivered an outstanding performance in the women's long jump, claiming the top spot with a 5.84m leap. Kailyn Thomas dominated the throwing events, securing three individual victories. She took first place in the shot put with a throw of 13.01m, followed that with a winning mark of 43.89m in the discus, and rounded out her incredible day by claiming first place in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.24m. Ambree Collinsworth also added to the team's success, winning the women's javelin with a mark of 36.56m.
On the men's side, Derrick Onyeador delivered a strong performance in the long jump, taking first place with an impressive leap of 7.15m. Keith Smith made history in the triple jump, setting a new school record and achieving a provisional qualifying mark with a winning jump of 15.28m. In the throwing events, Jason Patrick secured victory in the men's discus with a throw of 49.46m, further adding to the Muleriders' dominance in the field events.
With their outdoor season off to a strong start, the Muleriders are eager to continue their success at the Ouachita Invite.
