Muleriders Finish Up Action at Carl Kight Invite and Multis

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Mulerider Track & Field wrapped up another weekend action, as Southern Arkansas competed at the well-renowned Carl Kight Invitational & Multis at Stephen F. Austin State University. The meet took place over two days, with the first half of multis starting on Thursday and the second half finishing on Friday. Both days saw competition in the field, while Thursday had the distance carnival and Friday saw the sprinters compete.

In the Heptathlon, Coach James Bowlin saw two competitors, whom included Anaya Ervin and Kendal Fellegy. Both placed inside the top-ten of the seven event contest, as Ervin finished in sixth place with 4,429 total points with three top-six finishes. Ervin's best event was in the javelin with her distance of 36.15m placing her in fifth place. Fellegy finished her run in the Heptathlon in eighth place, after also having her best showing in the javelin throw, marking at 29.95m.

Two athletes highlighted the Mulerider Women's efforts at the meet, with the group seeing one first-place finisher and another program record set. Recording the women's lone top finish was Diamond Brunn, as the senior from Killeen, Texas recorded a leap of 5.88m (19' 3.5") to out-leap ten NCAA Division I jumpers, as well as eight Great American Conference leapers. Setting a new program record, and adding to her list, was Jordan Collins. The local of Huntsville, Texas set a new program record for the 100m with her time of 11.92. The time placed her in sixth of 41 sprinters. Collins also had an impressive showing in the 200m, with the senior recording a time of 23.99 to place her in second of 59 competitors. For both sprints, Collins outran 26 NCAA Division I athletes.
