SEARCY, Ark. — Day Two of the Great American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships is in the books, as the Muleriders wrapped up another day of action at Harding University.
Heptathlon Day One
The two Mulerider Women to compete in the Heptathlon concluded action in the seven-event multi. Both Anaya Ervin and Kendal Fellegy finished the multi with All-GAC honors, as Ervin finished the Heptathlon in fifth place and earned All-GAC Second Team honors, while Fellegy finished in seventh of the Heptathlon and is named an All-GAC Honorable Mention. Ervin went on to finish with 4,536 points, while Fellegy tallied up 4,156 points.
Decathlon Day One
Claiming an All-GAC Second Team honor for the Mulerider Men in the Decathlon, as Garrett Hughes finished the multi in fifth place after recording 5,830 points.
Mulerider Women
For the women, Southern Arkansas recorded three All-GAC honors, with the group acquiring a individual champion in Diamond Brunn. The senior from Killeen, Texas earned the championship in the Long Jump, as Brunn leaped for 5.87m (19' 3") and claimed an All-GAC First Team honor in the process.
Also acquiring All-GAC honors were Janet Addo and Jeana Paredes, as Addo claimed an Honorable Mention in the Long Jump after finishing seventh with a jump of 5.39m (17' 8.25"), while Paredes clinched a membership in the Second Team for Pole Vault after reaching a height of 3.43m (11' 3") to tie for fourth.
The Blue and Gold had three individuals qualify for their respective event finals, as Jordan Collins clinched a spot in the 100m and 200m finals, after dashing for a time of 11.85 in the 100m and 24.28 in the 200m. Her performance in the 200m was good enough to be the fastest time amongst those in the preliminary round. Also earning a spot in the finals for the 100m was Kamryn Floyd, as the junior sprinted and finished with a time of 11.95.
Mulerider Men
SAU's men also recorded three All-GAC, as two were acquired by the Gamble brothers and another was clinched in the Long Jump. Recording his second All-GAC Second Team honor of the week was Jonovan Gamble, with the sophomore placing sixth in the Shot Put with his distance of 14.49m (47' 6.5"). His younger brother Jericho also tallied for an All-GAC Second Team honor, as he placed fourth in the Shot Put with a mark of 15.49m (50' 9.75").
In the Long Jump, freshman jumper Kaleb Ellis recorded a mark of 6.66m (21' 10.25"), with which he placed eighth in the event and was named an Honorable Mention.
The Muleriders are competing for hurdling championships on Friday, as three runners have qualified for finals races. In the 110m Hurdles, freshman hurdler Tiquan Box will be competing after he recording a qualifying time of 15.25. Two men from the Blue and Gold will be running for a 400m Hurdles championship, as Jaxon Plunkett recorded a time of 54.75 alongside Tyrese Townsend who accounted for a time of 55.72.
