Muleriders Ready for Action at Louisiana Classics

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas Track & Field is back in action, as the Muleriders are set to travel to Lafayette, Louisiana, where the Blue and Gold will compete in the Louisiana Classics at the Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex.
 
Events for the Louisiana Classics will begin on Friday, March 20, with the women's javelin taking place at 3:00 PM. The men's javelin will begin at 5:00 PM. Also starting at 3:00 PM will be the men's discus, while the women's discus will start at 5:00 PM.
 
Events on Saturday will get started early with the women's 10k at 7:00 AM, followed by the men's 5k at 7:45 PM.
 
SAU is coming off a very impressive weekend, as the entire group capped off the 2025-26 Indoor season and had a great showing at the Ouachita Invitational.
 
For the indoor season finale, senior Keith Smith traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia for the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The local of Jefferson, Texas had an amazing finish to the indoor campaign, as he recorded his second-best mark of the season with a triple jump distance of 15.36m (50' 4.75") to place sixth and claim the title of First Team All-American. After doing so, Smith became the first ever Mulerider to be named an All-American for the indoor program.
 
Last weekend, in Arkadelphia, the Blue and Gold saw multiple strong performances, which included two GAC Track Athlete of the Week honors, with the Blue and Gold claiming the awards for men and women.
 
On the men's side, Tiquan Box earned the title of GAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 110m hurdles with a finishing time of 15.19. For the women, senior sprinter Jordan Collins made history and claimed two first-place finishes to be awarded the title of GAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Collins finished first in the 100m with a personal best time of 12.04, while also breaking a program record and placing first in the 200m with a time of 23.94.
