Muleriders to open indoor season at Pittsburg State hosted meets

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Track and Field is set to begin its indoor season, as Southern Arkansas prepares to head up north to Pittsburg, Kansas, for the Boo Rogers Combined Events and the Crimson and Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State University inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Second-year Head Coach James Bowlin looks to get his group up and running early on in the indoor year, as both teams will be competing in their first December action since the 2023-24 season in the same invitational. The trip will mark the first of three departures to Pittsburg, Kansas, this indoor season, as the groups will travel there for the Rumble in the Jungle D2 Invite on January 24 and the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic beginning February 13 and ending February 14.  

To begin the action for the Muleriders, members of the men's team will be competing earlier than the remainder of the two squads, with Anderson Colley, Garrett Hughes, Cameron Sliger, and Kian McGhee journeying a day early (Dec. 5) for the Boo Rogers Combined Events starting at 11:30 AM on Friday. After the competition winds down on Friday, the group will resume action on Saturday at 9:00 AM to finish the heptathlon.  

Competition for the Crimson and Gold Invitational will officially get started at 7:15 PM on Friday (Dec. 5) with the 5,000-meter run for the Men, with the women to follow at 7:55 PM. All events will resume action at 11:30 AM on Satuday (Dec. 6) with the 60-meter hurdles for the Men, followed by the Women's 60-meter hurdles at 11:50 AM. Field events are scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday with the men's weight throw. All competition should wrap up with the 3,000–meter run, with the men beginning at 7:45 PM and the women at 8:10 PM.
