RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference released its weekly Track & Field honors that saw Mulerider Men's Track & Field athlete
Keith Smith claim this week's Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his top-tier performance at the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational located in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Smith, a native of Jefferson, Texas, played a major role in the Muleriders' point total as the junior placed second in his first triple jump of the indoor season. In the event, Smith produced a distance of 14.74 meters which translates to 48' 4.5". The leap ended up being a personal best for the East Texas native for his indoor career as well as resulting in a provisional mark. With the provisional mark, Smith has made his way onto the DII indoor qualifying list at 24
th in Division II. Smith's jump was just a fourth of an inch shy of the 23
rd-best triple jump this season (Davonte Jackson | Clayton State | 48' 4.75").
In the Central Region, Smith has accounted for the sixth-best triple jump this campaign as well as the furthest in the Great American Conference after just one go at the event in 2025.
Mulerider Men's Track & Field are back in action in the Sunflower State where they will compete in the Washburn Open & Multis in Topeka, Kansas.
