Harding Last Chance Meet
Thomas and Patrick competed in the ring as the female thrower looked to improve her hammer throw while the male thrower sought after a better discus throw.
Patrick's best toss previously stood at 51.53m, or 169' 1". The throw was set at the Bison Open (4-6-24) in the same ring the sophomore competed in this last weekend. Out of nine competitors that wished to show improvement in the event, Patrick's distance was the best as he heaved the disc for 53.73m (176' 3") and broke his previous PR and improved his program record. The sophomore's toss marks the eighteenth furthest distance in the discus throw among the nation.
Out of three competitors, Thomas dominated her competition as the junior made an attempt to set a new PR and besting her throw of 52.65m (172' 9") at the Louisiana Classic (3-15/16-24). The stout thrower nearly did so as she heaved the hammer for 172' 6" as she came up just four inches shy of a new personal record.

Representing the men in Fort Worth was Smith as the sophomore athlete attempted to break his triple jump record of 14.78m (48' 6"). While Smith did record the furthest distance among the three competitors, his mark was a little more than a foot short of his best with a mark of 14.42m (47' 3.75").
Brunn took her chance with the long jump at the meet as the sophomore desired to best her PR and school record of 5.92m (19' 5.25"). However, the athlete managed to spot a distance of 5.74m (18' 10") in the last chance meet.
Collins was the traveling party's only individual sprinter as the sophomore got into her blocks for the 400m and finished fourth among seven athletes. Collins looked to beat her previous time of 55.11, but clocked in at 59.50 for the sprint.
After having just earned a provisional time at the Great American Conference Championships, the Mulerider Women 4x100 team looked to beat that provisional mark of 46.58, but finished with a time of 47.14 while in Fort Worth.
The NCAA Division II Championship selections are to be announced on Tuesday, May 14.
