AUSTIN, Texas – Members of the Southern Arkansas track team ventured to the 96
th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas at Austin this last weekend. The Muleriders competed in few events (MW 4x100, MW 4x400, MW 100M open), but were recognized for the performances in the 100M opens and those a part of the men's and women's 4x400 teams.
Men
Bryson Johnson ran the 100M for the Muleriders as the senior accounted for a newly established personal record in the race with a time of 10.54. The senior outran his old PR by just .06. The Jefferson, Texas native place 51
st among the 109 competitors who partook in the event.
The Southern Arkansas men's 4x400 relay squad consisted of Lou Hughes, B. Johnson,
Christian Johnson, and
Dezmand Bryant. The group finished the relay with a time of 3:28.94 to place 12
th out of the 15 teams to have placed.
Women
The freshman
Kamryn Floyd got the green light to run the 100M open as the sprinter clocked in a time of 12.11 in which falls just .01 behind her personal best of 12.10. Floyd's time was good enough to position her in 62
nd of the 93-competitor field.
The Mulerider women's 4x400 squad completed their relay with a final time of 4:04.65 in which the group placed 15
th of the 18 teams that finished the event.
Southern Arkansas Track and Field is back in action this coming Saturday in Searcy, Arkansas for the Bison Open hosted by Harding University on April 6. For more on upcoming events, check out
