CLINTON, Miss - Head Coach Tim Servis' Muleriders traveled to the Hospitality state for the Mississippi College Spring Cleaning Classic as they competed in their first outdoor meet of the 2024 season.
Out of the men, Southern Arkansas saw 33 top-ten finishes out of their competitors with 17 of those resulting in a top-five finish. The Mulerider men also saw two event winners in a pair of Natural State bred athletes.
Southern Arkansas' women claimed 36 spots within the top-ten as they also recorded a top-five placement on 24 occasions. The Mulerider women were able to notch four winning performances among three athletes.
MEN
The SAU men were highlighted by throwers Ja'Kamron Zackery and Jason Patrick as each of these young men claimed a top spot in their events. Zackery earned first place in the hammer throw after he tossed the weight for 169' 4" in which he set a new personal record. Patrick was seen in the event as well with a fifth place spot with a throw of 147' 3".
The sophomore Patrick, native of Prescott, Arkansas, earned his number one performance in the discus throw after having made a toss 150' 9". Both of Patrick's tosses were personal bests for him. Zackery was the second-best performance in the event as he threw for 142' 8".
Zackery also recorded another top three job as he placed second in shot put with a heave of 49' 11.25".
Keith Smith accounted for himself a top three finish in the triple jump after his leap of 45' 11.25". Lou Hughes was right with Smith as he managed to jump out to 44' 0".
Christian Johnson and Derrick Onyeador each saw the top three in the long jump as Johnson recorded a distance of 22' 8" for a new PR and Onyeador accounted for a leap of 22' 6.25".
Onyeador earned himself another top three spot as he placed second in the high jump with a distance of 6' 0.75".
In the 1500M, Charles Patton made his outdoor meet debut as a Mulerider with a top three finish in the long distance race with a time of 4:05.33.
WOMEN
Southern Arkansas' women saw four winners for their spring cleaning as Jordan Collins claimed first in the 200M after clocking in for 24.46, Diamond Brunn finished first in the long jump with her leap of 17' 11.5", and Kailyn Thomas placed first in both the discus and hammer throw as she tossed for 127' 0" at discus and 158' 2" at hammer.
The freshman Kamryn Floyd notched a second-place finish in the 100M after having set a time of 12.22.
Hailey Sutton earned second with her performance at pole vault in which she vaulted herself in the air for 10' 0".
Devlin Rivera saw herself place second in the triple jump as she pushed herself outwards for 36' 5.75".
The final second-place performance went to Keyonce Brown after she tossed for a new personal record of 42' 7.5" out of the shot put ring.
In the 100M hurdles, Tiffany Wiley earned a top-three spot as she placed third in the event after crossing the finish line with a time of 15.55.
Anaya Ervin's distance of 17' 1.5" earned the sophomore third-place in the long jump. Issah Traylor also saw herself earn third-place in the triple jump after recording a distance of 35' 2".
Irieyanna Wilson also claimed a top three placement after having tossed for 41' 10.5" to place third while at the shot put ring.
The 4x1 team (Tiffany Wiley, Kamryn Floyd, Wil'Lexis Beaver, Jordan Collins) notched the Muleriders one more winning spot with their performance time of 46.97.
