MAGNOLIA, Ark. – On Tuesday, the Great American Conference announced its weekly award winners for men's and women's track & field and among those honored were a pair of Southern Arkansas student-athletes as the Muleriders garnered both the male and female track athlete of the week plaudits.

Jordan Collins, a sprinter from Huntsville, Texas, was named the GAC Female Track Athlete of the Week, while junior sprinter
Bryson Johnson, a native of Jefferson, Texas, was tabbed as the GAC Male Track Athlete of the Week. The honors are the first for the SAU duo in their respective careers.
Collins recorded personal-best times in both the 200M (25.21) and 400M (57.65) events at the Little Rock Invitational. She placed seventh in the 200M, while her fourth-place time in the 400M is currently the fastest time by a Great American Conference sprinter this season. Additionally, Collins helped the Muleriders to third-place showings in both the 4x100 (47.88 – third leg) and 4x400 (4:04.40 – anchor leg) relays.
Johnson blazed to a personal best effort and an NCAA DII provisional qualifying time of 21.20 in the 200M. He placed second in the field and added a top ten finish in the 100M at 10.83. Additionally, Johnson aided Southern Arkansas in winning the 4x100 relay (41.40) as the lead leg and helped the Muleriders place second in the 4x400 relay (3:26.59) from the third position.
