MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its Academic All-District ® teams on Thursday morning. Among the honorees on the Super Region 3 First Team are a pair of Mulerider Football standouts: outgoing senior safety Brock Floyd and redshirt freshman running back Jariq Scales. Both players now advance to the Academic All-America ballot. Floyd looks to earn his second Academic All-America honor after being named a first-team selection last season, while Thursday's award is the first for Scales in his career. The duo makes up two-thirds of the selections from the Great American Conference as Harding's Cooper Carroll was also named a first team selection.
 
Floyd, a native of Frisco, Texas who holds a 3.77 GPA in Business Administration, became the first Mulerider to twice be named a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Teamer and an All-GAC First Teamer. For more insight on Floyd's final campaign in the Southern Arkansas secondary, click here.
 
A native of Osceola, Arkansas, Scales owns a 3.69 GPA in Sports Management. The Natural State product was recently named the Great American Conference's Freshman of the Year and an All-GAC Second Team performer. For more on Scales' historic season on the gridiron, click here.
 
The 2021 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. 
 
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
