RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas junior football player
Tanner Hudson has been named as the Great American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the week-ending September 25 as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Hudson, a native of Camden, Tenn., helped SAU control the field position game with his punts as he totaled 148 yards on three punts for an average of 49.3 yards per punt in SAU's 28-21 win over Arkansas Tech this past Saturday.
Hudson's longest punt was a 75-yard rugby punt that flipped the field from SAU's 32-yardline to Arkansas Tech's 3-yardline.
That 75-yard punt is currently the sixth furthest punt this season in DII.
Aside from special teams, Hudson also played a major factor in SAU's win as the Muleriders' tight end caught eight passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
