SHAWNEE, Okla. – Freshmen
Tyler Shelton and
Damian Ganter competed in the Men's Decathlon during the first day of the inaugural Great American Conference Track and Field Championships and are currently third and seventh respectively, with the 110 hurdles and discus toss remaining on Friday morning's slate at the Eddie Hurt Jr. Athletic Complex.
Shelton's third place finish after day one came courtesy of posting the best high jump mark at 6' 1 ½'' and the second-best long jump finish at 21'2''. He finished the 100 meter in 12.19 seconds, while recording a time of 57.53 in the 400 meters. Shelton registered a shot put toss of 31'1/2''.
Ganter finished the 100 meter at 11.77 and the 400 meter at 56.51. He recorded a long jump mark of 15'5'' and a shot put toss of 31'3''.
Entering day two, Shelton sits at 2,941 points; 215 points back of second place, while Ganter enters Friday with 2,020 points.
