2014 National Bowl Game Rosters
MIAMI, Fla. – Senior wide receiver and kick return specialist
Zikerious Ware has accepted an invitation to play in the fifth-annual National Bowl Game which will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 at Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium on the campus of Florida International University in Miami, Fla.
Â
The National Bowl Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from non-FBS schools. Additionally, the National Bowl is considered to be the elite and only current post-season all-star game to focus on players below the Division I/FBS level, giving those players the opportunity to play in front of several NFL and CFL scouts. The National Bowl is presented by East Preps LLC and founded by its Michael Quartey Esq., a Professor of Sports Law at Holy Family University and former NFL Certified Sports Agent.
Â
Ware, a native of Clewiston, Fla., received the invitation as a result of his All-GAC First-Team campaign at wide receiver for the Muleriders. This past season, Ware was the Muleriders' top pass catcher as well as being its top kick returner. As a receiver, Ware would lead the team in receptions (50), yards (832) and touchdowns (8). His 5.0 receptions per game and 83.2 yards per game both ranked Ware second in the GAC.
Â
Perhaps the Muleriders top deep threat throughout the season, Ware would catch seven passes that would go for more than 40 yards down the field with four of those big plays going for touchdowns. In the kick return game, Ware would rack up 508 return yards on 23 attempts. His longest return of the year was a game-changing 88-yard touchdown in SAU's 66-42 win over Arkansas-Monticello in the third-annual Battle of the Timberlands game. Ware would also finish third in the GAC in all-purpose yards per game with 136.8.
