Yancey Vanosdell and Dylan Teague Join Mulerider Football Staff for 2026 Season

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Football and Head Coach Brad Smiley announced today the hiring of Yancey Vanosdell and Dylan Teague for the upcoming 2026 campaign. Vanosdell will assume the role as the new offensive line coach, while Teague joins the staff as the unit's new linebackers coach.

Coach "V" comes to Magnolia after spending six seasons at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas where he was an integral part of the most successful run-in program history winning three KCAC Conference Championships (2021, 2022, 2024) and making three trips to the NAIA National Championship Playoffs all in the same season. His offensive line units were also some of the most decorated units in the country as he coaches four NAIA All-Americans, 17 All-Conference selections, and the 2020 Remington Award Winner given to the nation's top center.

"Excited to work with Yancey and see what his experience and success brings to our offense and program as a whole," stated Coach Brad Smiley. "He's been at Southwestern (College) for 6 seasons and has 3 championships and trips to the playoffs under his belt. Coached multiple All-Americans and even a Remington Award winner. This type of experience and success is what we need to take our program to the next level."

In 2025, his men up front helped pave the way for one of NAIA football's most explosive offenses, finishing the season ranked #2 in NAIA total offense while averaging an impressive 51.9 points per game. The Builders also finished 2nd nationally in total touchdowns (82) and passing touchdowns (41). His 2025 unit alone places three offensive linemen on the KCAC All-Conference team while junior Austin Tener was also honored as a member of the 2025 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American Team.

In 2024, the Builders' offense also had plenty of success, averaging 39.8 points per game en route to winning the program's best 11-games and the KCAC Conference Championship.

Vanosdell is a Buckeye, Arizona native and played football at Southwestern College from 2016-19. During his four-year stretch as a player, Vanosdell was a three-time KCAC All-Conference selection. Yancey graduated in 2020 from Southwestern College with a Bachelor's in Sports Management with an emphasis in Business Administration. Vanosdell also received his Masters in Education in 2022 from Southwestern College.

Yancey is married to his wife of three years, Alexis and together they have two sons, Karter and Kamden.

Dylan Teague is once again a Mulerider, having been hired to coach the Mulerider Linebackers. The Star City, Arkansas native coached the SAU outside linebackers in 2023 and 2024 and spent 4 seasons (2018-2022) coaching as an undergrad, working in many roles within all 3 phases. During his time in Magnolia, he has helped the program reach the postseason on three different occasions: the 2023 Live United Bowl, the 2019 Heritage Bowl, and the 2018 Live United Bowl.

Smiley exclaimed on the return of Teague, "Fired up to get Dylan and Morgan back in Magnolia!! Dylan loves this place and is a Mulerider through and through. He holds two degrees from SAU and was an integral part of our first defensive staffs for 3 seasons. I know Coach Dean loves having him back, and I know the linebacker corps will be well coached and prepared."

He spent the 2025 football season in Salina, Kansas, as the Co-Defensive Coordinator and linebackers coach at Kansas Wesleyan University, where he helped lead the Coyotes to a 7-4 record on the year. Under his tutelage at KWU, Teague had 2 All-KCAC linebackers in First Team selection Jamison Price and Third Team selection Myles Elam. His linebacking corps helped anchor a defense that finished ranked 2nd in the conference in rushing defense at 107.1 yards per game and 4th in total defense at 302.7 yards per game. KWU ranked among the nation's best in both categories as well.

Prior to taking the position at KWU, Teague spent two seasons (2023-2024) as a graduate assistant at SAU, coaching the Mulerider outside linebackers. In 2024, he helped a defensive unit that finished top 3 in the Great American Conference in 8 different defensive categories. Those categories included leading the conference in defensive touchdowns and sacks, as well as finishing among the top two teams in the GAC in tackles for loss, interceptions, turnovers gained, passing defense, completion percentage & pass efficiency defense.

In 2023, under the guidance of former defensive coordinator Will Reed, Teague helped turn around the Mulerider defense, leading the program to a 10-win season and the 2023 Live United Bowl Championship. The 10 wins marked only the second time in program history to accomplish that feat.  The Muleriders also were among the GAC leaders in multiple categories, including defensive TDs (2nd), fumbles recovered (2nd), interceptions (2nd), scoring defense (4th), sacks by (4th), and total defense (4th).

During the 2022 season, he assisted at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. At UAPB, Teague helped coach the Lions' offensive line unit. Teague holds two degrees from Southern Arkansas University, a Master of Kinesiology in Coaching Philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. Dylan is married to the former Morgan Cox.
