Coach Logan Quinn Announces 2026-27 Recruiting Class

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Basketball team and Head Coach Logan Quinn announced today his 2026-27 recruiting class as they prepare for a new season under a familiar face in Mulerider Country.

The class consists of four Freshman acquisitions along with seven transfers. Out of the transfers there is one Division I transfer, three Division II transfers, two junior college transfers along with one NAIA transfer. The class is made up of kids from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana along with one international transfer.

"I am extremely excited about our recruiting class and the future of Mulerider Basketball," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "Being able to establish relationships with each of our guys was my first priority when I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to come back.  Coach Rutledge, Coach Tucek, and the rest of the staff did a great job of identifying guys that fit our mission and adding them to an already talented returning class. I can't wait to get on the floor with these guys and continue the tradition in our program of being tough and connected. Mulerider Nation will be proud when they watch our team!"

The 2026-27 class is as follows including a short paragraph about each player in the class from Coach Quinn

Khamani Cooper (6'4" | Senior | Guard | Pine Bluff, Arkansas) – "Coop is a huge addition to our team because of his ability to play multiple positions, and the impact he will have from Day One!" said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "He has experience and has played at a high level, and his leadership will be big for us as we have a challenging schedule from the get-go. I'm excited to watch his versatility and leadership ability shine this year for us. Mulerider fans will love the way he can defend and score the basketball! Khamani is a guy that lives in the gym, and his hunger for winning fits in perfectly with what our program is about!"

Aidan Williams (6'7" | Sophomore | Guard | Mont Belvieu, Texas) – "Aidan is going to be a fan favorite at SAU! He plays with an edge and a motor that people will love," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "He is extremely versatile and can play multiple positions.  His switchability will be big for us on the defensive side of the ball. Aidan was a guy that we were able to recruit early on out of High School because of our relationship his High School Coach – Chris Pennington – who will do great things as the AD at Magnolia High School. Aidan went to another DII program, and now he is home and ready to make an impact. We can't wait to coach Ace!"

BJ Woodruff (6'2" | Guard | Junior | Twin Groves, Arkansas) – "I can't wait to coach BJ! BJ is a winner, coming from a great program in Black Hills State that went to the Elite Eight last year. He has seen what high-level winning looks like, and we will rely on him to show our younger guys how to work and how to play winning basketball," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "BJ and I established a relationship early on in the process, and I loved his curiosity to get better and his drive to improve his game.  He is a gym rat and a guy that loves to get better – from watching film to watching games to working out, he doesn't just love the game, he lives the game. Bringing him back home to Arkansas was a huge get for us!"

Muna Godswill (6'8" | Forward | Junior | Owerri, Nigeria) – "Muna and I loved getting to know each other throughout the recruiting process," remarked Head Coach Logan Quinn. "We wanted to get bigger and stronger, and we think that Muna brings a physicality that we need to have to compete in the physical Great American Conference.  Muna is a guy that will do whatever is asked of him, and he brings a winning mentality. He has a hunger to develop, and he will do just that throughout his time here."

Peyton Hicks (6'7" | Forward | Freshman | Texarkana, Arkansas) – "Peyton Hicks is a guy that we had known about for some time in High School at Genoa Central because of the proximity to our campus. He has a great frame and a willingness to work," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "Peyton wanted to be a part of our program, and we are super excited to have him. With the way that he works, and the way he wants to get better, Peyton will have a successful career here.  We are fortunate and excited to keep Peyton home and to wear the Blue and Gold!"

Brenden Johnson (6'5" | Guard | Freshman | Clinton, Arkansas) – "Brenden Johnson is another guy that we are fortunate to keep in the State of Arkansas," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "Brenden has length and a great basketball IQ that we are excited to develop during his time in our program.  He has the ability to switch and to be a versatile piece to our team. We can't wait to get him to campus and work with him because of his coachability and his high care-factor."

Carlos Clater (6'2" | Guard | Junior | Fort Worth, Texas) – "Carlos was a huge piece to our class, and we could not be more fired up to have him wear the Blue and Gold!" said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "Carlos is a guy that can really score it. We love the way he can get it going in a hurry.  SAU Hoops fans will love watching him shoot the ball. He has the desire to be coached and the desire to get better, so we are looking forward to getting on the floor with him and developing him even more!"

Kaden Leache (6'1" | Guard | Freshman | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) – "We are super excited to have Kaden join our team for Oklahoma City! Kaden has great IQ for the lead guard position and has the ability to defend multiple positions," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "He has really good feel for the game and loves to get in the gym and get better on a daily basis.  He will be a big piece to our program for years to come.  We can't wait to get him to campus and start coaching him!"

Kevon Zilaee (6'8" | Senior | Forward | Allen, Texas) – "Kevon comes to us with great experience in the Lone Star Conference," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "He fits our team well, and the pieces that we have, because he has played in DII games and has had an impact. We love his maturity and his approach to the game.  He has a unique skillset and a unique style that fits our program and the success we've had with guys similar to him.  We are excited about coaching him and seeing him thrive in our program!"

Teyo Flake (6'3" | Guard | Freshman | Ozark, Arkansas) – "We are fired up about Teyo! Being able to keep Teyo home in Arkansas was big for us," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "Teyo has the desire to get in the gym and get better, which fits well with who we are and what we are about in our Program. Like a lot of our pieces, Teyo can guard multiple positions and play multiple positions offensively.  He wants to get better and wants to be in an environment that pushes him.  We are excited to see the impact he can have each day!"

Xavier Meyers (6'4" Guard | Junior | New Orleans, Louisiana) – "Xay is a guy that we can't wait to get on campus and get to work with! He has a familiarity with our program from being at South Ark and played at a high level during his time there," said Head Coach Logan Quinn. "He has great length and can be another versatile piece to our system.  We have had success with guys from New Orleans in the past and have no doubt he can be another great Mulerider from NOLA. He has great character and wants to continue our tradition of having tough-nosed, high character guys."
