RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has released this week's Track & Field Athletes of the Week honorees, and laying claim to his first honor of his collegiate career was
Jericho Gamble, a freshman from Mineral Springs, Arkansas.
Gamble earned the honor as he won both the shot put and discus throw at the Ninth Annual Dan Veach Invitational last Friday. In shot put, the Arkansan placed first after recording a personal-best throw of 15.98m (52' 5.25"). For the discus throw, the freshman threw for a distance of 49.01m (160' 9") to finish in first. Gamble also competed in the hammer throw, as the Mineral Springs local placed fifth with his toss of 42.61m (139' 9"). Gamble is the first winner of the honor this outdoor season for the Muleriders.
Next up for Gamble and the Muleriders is the Great American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Searcy, Arkansas, which will be taking place on April 29 – May 1.
