Muleriders Cap Off Weekend at Bryan Phillips Open

SEARCY, Ark. — Mulerider Track & Field has finished up another weekend of competition, as Coach James Bowlin's groups concluded action at Harding's Bryan Phillips Invitational and Multis. In the meet, the Muleriders recorded 29 total top-ten finishes, with the women producing 12 and the men tallying 17. 

For the women, leading the way was once again Jordan Collins, as the senior recorded another provisional mark in the 400m. While not as fast as her personal best, the Huntsville, Texas native still showed out in the race with a time of 54.51 placing her in third in the event.

Southern Arkansas' men had multiple good performance all around, but some of the notability were in the 3,000m Steeplechase and the discus throw. In the long distance race, three Muleriders finished within the top ten, while one ended the running at the top, as Isaac Gass won the event with a time of 9:52.38. Another athlete to have a fantastic outing was Jericho Gamble, with the freshman recording two top-five finishes. One of those ended up reaching for a provisional mark in the discus throw. Gamble went on to acquire a mark of 51.57m (169' 2") and placed in second for the event. Gamble was also fifth-place in the shot put throw with his mark of 15.09m (49' 6.25").

Southern Arkansas had one lone athlete in the Bison Multis, as Anderson Colley got to see action for in the decathlon, finishing the ten-event event with a personal best point total of 5,115. Colley recorded six personal best results in the matter, with his best personal best coming in high jump, accounting for a height of 1.78m (5' 10"). That height helped place Anderson in second for the event.

All attention turns toward the upcoming meet for the Muleriders, which will be the Dan Veach Invitational this coming Saturday, on April 18.
