Muleriders Sweep Day in Mississippi

| Box Score 2 MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders Men's Tennis team swept the day in Mississippi clinching wins over Meridian Community College 7-0 and Montevallo University 5-2.
 
Vs. Meridian Community College
The Muleriders took home a clean sweep over the Eagles beginning in doubles play. SAU won all of their matches handily as Balsa Djokovic and Taiki Minamino won at line one 6-2 followed by Andreas Seidel and Lucas Ibanez winning at line two 6-2. William Von Pongracz and Shun Wakino finished off the clean sweep at line three 6-0 over the Eagles duo. After doubles play, SAU held a 1-0 lead.
 
The singles lineup looked a little different against the Eagles as Jonas Sommer played at line one and won his match (6-4, 3-6, 10-6). Andreas Seidel won his match in straight sets at line two (6-2, 6-1) which was followed by Shun Wakino winning at line three also in straight sets (7-5, 6-4) as SAU clinched the match going up 4-0. Taiki Minamino saw no resistance at line four winning (6-0, 6-0) and was followed by Lucas Ibanez winning at line five in the same fashion (6-0, 6-0). William Von Pongracz also had a dominant win at line six (6-0, 6-0) to complete the clean sweep for the Muleriders as they looked to take the momentum into their second match of the day.
 
Vs. Montevallo
The men got underway for their second match of the day against the Falcons of Montevallo with a familiar lineup. Jonas Sommer and Uwe Deihl fell at line one 0-6 and were followed by Frode Neumann and Lucas Nitzschke falling at line two doubles 5-7 as the Falcons took the early advantage winning the doubles point. Despite Montevallo winning the doubles point, Balsa Djokovic and Taiki Minamino won their match at line three 6-3. Needing a comeback after losing the doubles point, singles play began as SAU looked for the comeback victory.
 
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line one (1-6, 5-7) as the Falcons took a 2-0 lead, but the Blue and Gold kept fighting as they hung in strong. Frode Neumann put the Muleriders on the board winning at line two (6-4, 6-1). Balsa Djokovic won his match at line three in three sets (5-7, 6-2, 6-2) to tie the match at 2-2. Uwe Diehl won his match at line three (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) to give SAU the lead over the Falcons, 3-2. Taiki Minamino won his match at line five in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) as the Muleriders completed the comeback to clinch the match 4-2. Andreas Seidel added on another point for the Muleriders at line six winning (6-4, 7-6).
 
Despite falling into an early deficit, the Muleriders fight brought them all the way back to secure the win and sweep the day over both opponents.

The Muleriders will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th against the No. 31 ranked West Alabama Tigers. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
