Muleriders Tabbed Ninth in GAC Preseason Coaches Poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference (GAC) released today their 2026-27 Preseason Men's Basketball Coaches poll. Head Coach Logan Quinn makes his return to Magnolia for his third total year at the helm of the program. The Muleriders find themselves tabbed tied for ninth with Southwestern Oklahoma State University with 45 points.

The ranking comes off an 11-17 season last year going 8-14 in conference play missing out on the Great American Conference Tournament for a second year in a row.
Along with almost a completely new team this season, Logan Quinn will make his return to Mulerider country this year after a brief stint with the Grand Rapids Gold, the NBA G League affiliate for the Denver Nuggets. Quinn was successful in his two years as a head coach for the Muleriders, seeing an NCAA Era program record 22 wins in 2022-23 along with an NCAA Era 15 conference wins and an NCAA Division II tournament appearance. Quinn will look to return the Muleriders to their winning ways as they look to return to the conference tournament this year.

The Muleriders return only five players off last season's squad including JaKourion Key, Nevi Tell, John Probey, Ed Kornbacher, and Braylan McNeal. Key played in 27 games with 19 starts for the Muleriders. In 2025-26, Key scored 230 total points averaging 8.5 a game with 97 rebounds, 18 assists, 12 steals, and two blocks. Key shot 50% from the field and 62.8% from the free throw line. John Probey returns this season for the Muleriders playing in 26 games for 269 total minutes. Probey scored 76 total points averaging 2.9 points per game with 44 total rebounds, seven assists, eight steals, and five blocks. Magnolia native, Nevi Tell also returns this season for the Muleriders as he saw action in 26 games last season making one start while scoring 43 points, 1.7 points per game, 26 rebounds, 29 assists, and 10 steals. Ed Kornbacher also returns this season for the Muleriders after seeing action in six contests in 2025-26. Braylan McNeal will also make his return this season after missing all of last year due to injury.

The 2026-27 squad is made up of a plethora of new faces as 10 new players have made their way to Magnolia for the season. These new faces include, Carlos Clater Jr., BJ Woodruff, Xavier Meyers, Teyo Flake, Muna Godswill, Aidan Williams, Kaden Leache, Kevon Zilaee, Khamani Cooper, and Peyton Hicks.
