SEARCY, Ark. — Mulerider Volleyball concluded competition at the Harding Tournament. For the Saturday matchup, Southern Arkansas faced Gulf South Conference member, Trevecca Nazarene for a high noon contest. SAU was upended by the Trojans in three sets, as TNU went on to claim victory, 25-23, 25-12, 26-24.
The Trojans started the set with the lead with a 2-0 advantage, but then soon after the Muleriders countered with two points of their own with a TNU service error and attack error. Trevecca Nazarene followed this up with a 4-1 run for a 7-3 lead. Southern Arkansas eventually back after being down four when the group rattled off a 4-0 run to take the lead in the outing at 16-15. After nine-back-and-forth points, the set remained tied with a score of 20-20. With a couple more points added by the Trojans, the Muleriders were not able to comeback in the opening set, as TNU went on to win the set 25-23.
Trevecca Nazarene had full control of the second set early on, as the Trojans started the second set at 4-1. The group saw some insurgence from the Blue and Gold as SAU recorded a 3-1 stretch to bring the game back within one at 5-4, TNU up. From then on, the Trojans began to separate themselves from the Muleriders, gaining a lead by as much as 13, 25-12, the final of the second set.
The Muleriders started hot early in the third set, as the group saw Claire Johnson and Jessica Porten record back-to-back kills for a 2-0 start. The Trojans countered with a 3-0 run to claim the lead for a 3-2 advantage. After the Muleriders reclaimed the lead at 5-4, TNU ripped off a 5-0 run for a 9-5 outing. Trevecca Nazarene held the lead up until an SAU 4-0 stretch to tie at 12-12. The groups went back and forth up until the Trojans stretched the lead to a 17-14 ballgame. The groups continued to counter each others' efforts, with the outing coming to a tied 24-24 set three. Trevecca Nazarene capped off the match with a pair of SAU attack errors for a 26-24 final.

Mulerider Volleyball is back inside the W.T. Watson Center for more Great American Conference play with the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns coming into town for a Tuesday night match at 6:00 PM. The group will then travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Thursday night to play the Henderson State Reddies at 6:30 PM.
