MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Track and Field's Last Chance Meet weekend has come to a close, with multiple impressive performances that could earn the individuals a trip to the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, located in Pueblo, Colorado, on the campus of Colorado State University at Pueblo. For the weekend, eight members of the Mulerider Track and Field Team competed, with that group splitting competition at two last chance meet sites. Three went to the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and all eight went to the Harding Mother's Day Last Chance meet
Arkansas Twilight (May 9, 2025)
Members of the Mulerider Men and Women who made the trip to Fayetteville included
Diamond Brunn (WT&F),
Derrick Onyeador (MT&F), and
Keith Smith (MT&F).
Of those student-athletes, Onyeador finished in seventh place in the long jump after recording a distance of 7.10m (23' 3.5").
With Onyeador on the men's side, Smith showed out at the meet's triple jump event as the junior recorded an NCAA DII Provisional Mark that measured at 14.74m (48' 4.5"). Keith's measurement ended up being the second-best at the meet and is now the 21
st-best mark for the event in Division II.
Brunn had herself one of, if not her best, performances of her career in the long jump as the junior accounted for a leap of 6.24m (20' 5.75") which would have listed as a personal best without a tailwind of 4.4 meters per second. Regardless, the mark was listed as the second-best in the outing, as Brunn defeated four Division I athletes. With the tailwind showing assistance to Brunn, the mark was not recorded among the nation's best, but would have been the tenth-furthest distance in Division II. Even without that mark, Brunn still ranks 20
th in DII for her current PR of 6.10m (20' 0.5").
Harding Mother's Day Last Chance Meet (May 11, 2025)
Four male athletes traveled to Searcy, Arkansas, for the Harding Mother's Day Last Chance Meet. Onyeador and Smith made the trip from Northwest Arkansas, and
Jason Patrick and
Korbin McAuliffe both journeyed to Searcy for the opportunity to make a national championship run.
There were also four female athletes who made their way to the Harding meet, including Brunn,
Irieyanna Wilson,
Kailyn Thomas, and
Ambree Collinsworth.
Onyeador had himself another impressive outing, as the senior measured out at 6.87m (22' 6.5") in the long jump and placed first of the three competitors.
Smith recorded another impressive outing in the triple jump after the Jefferson, Texas native recorded a mark of 14.79m (48' 6.25") for his best mark of the weekend and his second provisional mark of the weekend.
Finishing in the top four of both the discus and hammer throw was
Jason Patrick, as the junior from Prescott, Arkansas, looked to make his second-straight trip to the NCAA DII Outdoor Championship. At the meet, Patrick placed third in the discus with a provisional throw of 51.27m (168' 2"). With another provisional mark, Patrick placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.41m (168' 8"). Nationally, for discus, Patrick currently sits at 28
th and is 31
st in the hammer.
McAuliffe also had a personal best day throwing the javelin while at the last chance meet, as the senior set a new PR of 52.23m (171' 4") to place second in the event.
The Mulerider Women took the field events by storm as the group saw Brunn, Wilson, and Thomas all claim first place in their respective events.
Brunn claimed first with her long jump distance of 5.69m (18' 8"). Irieyanna accounted for an event-winning shot put toss of 13.83m (45' 4.5"). Wilson currently ranks 28
th in the event for all of NCAA DII.
Thomas had herself a personal-best day as the senior placed first in both the discus and hammer throws and recorded a new personal record in the discus throw. In the event, the senior from Houston, Texas, recorded a throw of 46.44m (152' 4"). While not throwing a personal best, Thomas also accounted for an impressive first-place heave in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.95m (170' 5").
Freshman javelin thrower,
Ambree Collinsworth, made a name for herself as the program-record holder for javelin, unleashing a heave of 40.16m (131' 9") to place second in her first last chance meet of her collegiate career.
The Muleriders now await a chance to compete in Pueblo, Colorado, at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships, starting on May 22
nd and finishing on the 24
th.
