HUMBLE, Texas – Southern Arkansas wrapped up play at the Houston Classic with a 10th-place finish after the third and final round was canceled due to rain on Tuesday morning. Competing at the Golf Club of Houston, the Muleriders posted a two-round total of 603 (+27), with rounds of 303 (+15) and 300 (+12).
Freshman Blane Burk led the way for Southern Arkansas, finishing tied for 13th place with an even-par total of 144. After carding a 75 (+3) in the opening round, Burk improved in the second round with a stellar 69 (-3).
Luke Cote and Logan McDonald both tied for 46th place at 151 (+7). Cote fired a 73 (+1) in the first round but struggled in the second with a 78 (+6). McDonald posted rounds of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) for a consistent showing.
Collin Spangler finished tied for 74th at 159 (+15), improving in the second round with a 78 (+6) after an opening 81 (+9). Wil Griffin II rounded out the lineup in 87th place with a total of 165 (+21), posting rounds of 79 (+7) and 86 (+14).
The Houston Classic marked the first tournament of the spring season for the Muleriders, who will look to improve in their upcoming events. The Mulerider Men are back in action March 17-18 at the Oak Tree Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma.
