MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The first serve of many is finally here as Mulerider Volleyball is prepared for the start of the 2024 season beginning in Wichita Falls, Texas where Southern Arkansas is competing in the Midwestern State Invitational. The Muleriders stint at the invitational will cover Friday (Sep. 6) and Saturday (Sep. 7) as Coach

Key Returners for the Muleriders
As it has been stated many times, Coach Harrell goes into the year three with quite the different looking roster from years previous. Southern Arkansas went from having one senior,
Morgan Schuster (program leader in assists; 3,409) to ten.
Harrell's seniors consist of
Jada Hudson (Grand View, Texas),
Landry Rogers (Salado, Texas),
Lauryn Moultrie (Fairburn, Georgia),
Mary Insalaco (North Little Rock, Arkansas),
Ava Tanner (Brock, Texas),
Isla Olivas (Fort Worth, Texas),
Macie Shaver (Prosper, Texas),
Kayte Delong (Overland Park, Kansas),
Carlin Whaley (Magnolia, Arkansas), and
Alexa Heard (Little Rock, Arkansas).
Of those returning, SAU brings back its' top scorer in Delong (289.0 points | 256 kills), top blocker in Moultrie (100.0 total blocks | 4
th GAC), the second-best in assists in Shaver (407 assists), and the top-five attack percentage earners all make their way back to the court (Delong, Olivas, Moultrie, Hudson, and Rogers).
Last Season
In year two of the O'Banion (now Harrell) era, the Muleriders had made it to the Great American Conference Championship Tournament in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the first time since 2015. The year 2015 holds many more moments like this for Southern Arkansas, such as the first above .500 record overall and in conference since the year.
SAU concluded its' 2023 season at the GAC Championship Tournament as the Muleriders fell to in-state rival Henderson State. Southern Arkansas had split the regular season with the Reddies as HSU caught the victory in Arkadelphia earlier in the league season, but SAU had made the bounce back once Henderson State traveled to Magnolia.
Along with making the GAC Tournament last November, Mulerider Volleyball accounted for a trio of All-GAC honors including Delong making all-league second team, Moultrie being named all-conference honorable mention, and the program's all-time assist leader
Morgan Schuster being listed as an honorable mention.
