Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southern Arkansas concluded their extended road trip over the last four contests with today's matchup against the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs. The Muleriders traveled to Custer County for their rematch against SWOSU this season following the inaugural game this year when SAU overwhelmed the Bulldogs 88-55 in Magnolia. Southwestern Oklahoma State showed to have the upperhand this occasion following some momentous victories to give the Bulldogs the push they needed to defeat the Muleriders by a score of 66-58.
TOP PERFORMERS
Seniors Addy Tremie (13 points) and Diamond Morris (11 points) each recorded double-digit scoring efforts against SWOSU. For Tremie, this is her fourteenth game this campaign with ten or more scoring. For Morris, this makes it her sixteenth contest this season scoring at least ten points and her seventh game in a row to do so. Morris, Lynn Griffin, and Jessica Clemons all led Southern Arkansas' efforts on rebounds as each one of them recorded seven boards. Clemons was also responsible for leading the Muleriders in steals with five. Tequaza Chambers accounted for the highest free throw percentage among her team as she made 75% of her shots going 3-4.
THE GAME
To open up this contest, it looked to be as lop-sided as last time these two foes met each other on the court, but this time in favor of Southwestern Oklahoma State with an early 12-0 lead. Southern Arkansas worked to close the gap over the length of the first half to eventually condense the deficit to a 32-26 ballgame. To begin the second half, SAU fired off an 8-2 series against the Bulldogs to take the lead up 35-34. The two went back and forth for a few game minutes to the point where the Muleriders held a three-point advantage at 39-36. To close out the third period, Southwestern Oklahoma State rattled off a series of their own going 10-1 heading into the final quarter of play. Southern Arkansas was not able to tighten the competition back down as SWOSU would get out to as large of a lead as 11 points, and the closest the Muleriders got was down six.
