Box Score

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Southern Arkansas made their final journey within the Great American Conference for the regular season as they ventured to Arkadelphia where they played Ouachita Baptist for the second occasion this campaign. The Tigers came out on top once more against the Muleriders by a final score of 83-71.

The Muleriders' scoring efforts were led by the junior transfer Tequaza Chambers as she recorded 18 points with a 57.1% field goal rate (8-14). The native of Plain Dealing, Louisiana accounted for five boards, a pair of assists, and three steals. SAU's second leading scorer for the night was senior Diamond Morris as she was responsible for 14 points as she made six of her 12 attempts from the field while also recording five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Sihirah Reese was the third-highest leading scorer as well as the third player to account for double-digits for the Muleriders. The sophomore scored ten points with nearly half of her points coming from the charity stripe as she made four of her five trips to the line.

Southern Arkansas had a fairly strong grip on the first quarter of play as the Muleriders outscored the Tigers 23-15 in the initial period through superior shooting from Head Coach Adam Collins' team. Ouachita Baptist was able to maintain the competitiveness as they narrowly outscored the Muleriders in the following period 19-21. At halftime the contest leaned in favor of Southern Arkansas 42-36.

The second half was controlled by the Tigers as Ouachita Baptist would come back and take the lead from SAU in just under four minutes into the third. OUA handled the remainder of the outing since then by outsourcing the Muleriders 21-31.

Southern Arkansas' hopes for a Great American Conference tournament berth are still alive as they head back to the W.T. Watson Center for a senior Saturday matchup with in-state rival Arkansas Tech at 1:00 p.m. For more information on upcoming events, check out www.MuleriderAthletics.com
