ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - For the second week in a row the Mulerider Men's Golf team showed a steady play throughout another three rounds and finished as the tournament's runners-up. At the beginning of this week, the Mulerider Men competed in the 2024 Holiday Inn Express MWSU Men's Central Region Preview hosted by Missouri Western.
Once day one was over, Southern Arkansas was tied for fourth-place in the 19-team field that competed in St. Joseph, Missouri. By showing off another round of steady play during day two of tournament action, they managed to climb up two more spots and tied for second-place with a stroke count of 856 (+4), behind Central Oklahoma.
Senior Logan McDonald kept the momentum from last week's tournament in Hot Springs and saw improvement this week as he finished the tournament hitting seven-under (206). He placed the best for the Muleriders as he shot under-par during all three rounds going 68-69-69 as well as shooting even 34 times, and recording 12 birdies and one eagle, putting him tied for third.
Freshman Blane Burk continued to show off a steady play in his first season competing for the Blue and Gold and finished tied for tenth in the 104-golfer field. He produced a total of 30 pars, 12 birdies, and 1 eagle going 66-73-73 during the three rounds totaling a score of 212 (-1).
Luke Cote finished tied for 33rd by scoring seven-over-par (220), hitting par 34 times, 6 birdies, and 1 eagle going 71-71-78 over the three rounds. Will Blake and Alex Gerrard both placed tied for 58, finishing with a score of 225 (+12).
Jett Stephenson and Wil Griffin II competed individually and placed tied for 81st and tied for 94th respectively.
The Mulerider Men are traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the Tulsa Cup on October 28-29 for their last showing of the 2024 Fall season.
