WINONA, Minn. - Southern Arkansas Men's Golf wrapped up its first 18 holes of action in Super Regional play on Thursday at the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional from The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minnesota. The Muleriders shot +15 to finish the first round at 299 and in a tie for 16th place.
Logan McDonald paced the Muleriders with an even-par effort of 71 on the 6,778-yard course. He birdied four of his first seven holes and added a fifth birdie on the back nine.
Caleb Miller followed at +3 to finish the opening round with a 74. He birdied his first hole and then made pars on holes No. 2 through No. 5. He worked around a pair of bogeys in both the front and back nine.
A trio of Muleriders shot +6 in round one. Connor Harrington recorded a pair of birdies with nine made pars. Luke Cote's first nine was shot at +1. Brendan Little recorded two birdies on the front nine.
Southern Arkansas combined for eleven birdies and made 50 pars. As a team, the Muleriders finished at -2 on the par-4, 377-yard No. 1 and the par-4, 406-yard No. 7. SAU shot -1 on the par-5, 518-yard No. 5 and the par-4, 413-yard No. 17. SAU shot +3 on par-5 scoring, finished at +7 in par-4 scoring and was +11 in par-3 scoring.
