EDMOND, Okla. – The Southern Arkansas Men's Golf team wrapped up play at the Broncho Invitation at the Rose Creek Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma in 12th place of 16 teams following a 933 54-hole total. The Muleriders finished 69 strokes over par, a nice performance in the typical Oklahoma conditions that could put the Windy City to shame. Juniors Connor Harrington and Caleb Miller finished tied for 25th in the 89-golfer field with a finish that found the duo 15 strokes over par after three rounds of play. SAU finished fourth of five GAC teams that made appearances at the tournament.
Harrington saw rounds of 74, 82 and 75 that featured an impressive 18th hole in every round. The junior was one of three golfers to Eagle twice, with both his at hole 18 in rounds one and three. Harrington recorded five birdies with one coming on the 18th hole in round two. He shot in the top half of all golfers throughout the tournament and fell in the top 25% with his average +3 at par-3s. The Magnolia, Arkansas native finished +13 at par-4s and additionally represented one of two Muleriders to record 30 or more pars (30).
Muleriders Brendan Little and Logan McDonald joined teammate Harrington in the eagle production during the tournament. Little recorded two, both in round two at holes eight and 18, and McDonald saw one at hole 18 in round two. The Muleriders combined for five eagles in the tournament, three more than the next closest team. Additionally, the Muleriders were one of nine teams to record a negative score (-3) at par-5s with Alex Gerrard, Miller, Harrington and Little each shooting -1 at par-5s.
Miller was the only Mulerider to record all three rounds in the 70s. The junior started off day one with rounds of 75 and 77 before returning Tuesday for the final round where he shot 79. Miller joined Harrington at the top quarter of the leaderboard with his +3 at par-3s while shooting +13 at par 4s. Miller shot for par 28 times and birdied six holes, two in each round including hole 18 in both rounds two and three.
Brendan Little was the final Mulerider to find himself in the top 50 golfers. The senior finished tied for 37th place with a final score that was just two strokes shy of Harrington and Miller. Little recorded a round of 83 in round one before improving to 74 and 76 in the final two rounds. Little recorded 25 pars in the tournament alongside six birdies.
Logan McDonald finished tied for 67th with a three-round total of 241 while Alex Gerrard wrapped things up in 76th place. Gerrard shot rounds of 80, 84 and 81 for a total of 245. McDonald shot rounds in the 80s (80, 83) on day one and improved to shoot 78 in the final round. McDonald shot +1 at par-5s, +17 at par-4s and +7 at par-3s. Gerrard shot +8 at par-3s and +22 at par-4s.
Will Blake competed as an individual and finished tied with teammate McDonald. Blake saw rounds of 85, 76, 80 and recorded the Muleriders' most pars of the tournament (31).
