MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Sophomore
Dakota Cassidy recorded a personal best 5K time of 18:53.7 to place third overall among a 62-runner field and Southern Arkansas ran to a second-place team finish after landing four runners in the top 25 at the Bob Gravett Invitational on Saturday morning in Arkadelphia.
Cassidy's podium finish was the first for the Meridian, Texas native and it stands as the third top ten finish of her career. She averaged 6:04.5 in the mile to lead Southern Arkansas which saw all six runners finish inside the field's top 40.
Sophomore
Logan Warren's time of 19:27.3 resulted in an eighth-place finish, the fourth top ten result in her career, at a mile average of 6:15.3. Junior
Alyzah McGlasson placed 15
th as the Muleriders were the only non-Ouachita representation to finish in the top 20 on Saturday. McGlasson finished in 20:03.2 at a mile average of 6:26.9.
Rounding out the top 25 showing for the Muleriders was freshman
Ava Zindler who in her collegiate debut placed 21
st with a time of 20:35.2 at 6:37.1. Senior
Alyssa Solis placed 35
th (23:06.3 | 7:25.7) and freshman
J'aime Brown finished 38
th (23:20.0 | 7:30.1) to wrap up the showing for Southern Arkansas in its season-opening race.
The second-place team finish is the highest for the Mulerider Women in a season opener since the 2015 Lois Davis Invitational which saw SAU place second.
