FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mulerider Women's Cross Country team made the venture to northwest Arkansas for the 35
th running of the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in which they saw six runners place inside the top 100 in the 179-runner course. Southern Arkansas as a team placed seventh of 23 squads with just 15+ points higher than the six above.
Competition included programs such as: Minot State, Cowley, Butler CC, UT-Dallas, College of the Ozarks, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Central Missouri, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Iowa Central CC, Friends College, SW Assemblies of God, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Ozark Christian, McPherson, Hendrix College, The Ozarks, Neosho County CC, Carl Albert State, NW Arkansas CC, Concordia (TX), National Park College, and Connors State.
In the 34
th Chile Pepper Festival, sophomore
Logan Warren finished 20
th with a time of 19:07.4. In her second go around, the junior placed 12
th in the Women's Prairie Fire 5k after she spotted a time of 19:38.5.
The freshman
Rachel Solano made her introduction to the CPF by placing 14
th in the competition with a time of 19:49.1 to set a new personal 5k record by more than a minute (20:59.9 LDI).
