MAGNOLIA, Ark. – While the weather might be cooling down,
Tim Servis' Muleriders are looking to heat things up at the 35
th annual Chile Pepper Festival this Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Last season saw the Muleriders return to the Chile Pepper Festival for the first time since 2019.
LAST TIME OUT
The 13
th running of the Lois Davis Invite was a success for Servis' competitors as the men won the overall team title as they recorded seven runners inside the top ten.
Giovani Diaz led Southern Arkansas by crossing in third place with a time of 17:04.3 (5k PR).
Jorge Sanchez finished in fourth (17:10.7) and
Brandon Escobar in fifth (17:10.9).
The women placed second in the 13
th LDI with help from junior
Logan Warren who placed first in the meet with a two-mile personal record of 12:40.7.
Rachel Solano placed third with a time of 12:59.6 (two-mile PR), and
Alyzah McGlasson in fifth with a time of 13:13.4 (two-mile PR).
The Men have three runners from the last time in Fayetteville. The top returner, Sanchez is back on the course since he placed 52
nd out of 355 finishers in the 34
th Chile Pepper Festival Men 8k Open.
In a 275-runner field, Warren placed 20
th in the Women 5k Open last fall with a time of 19:07.4. The now senior McGlasson recorded a time of 19:30.6 that earned her 43
rd in the competition filled course.
Traveling to Washington County for the men are Diaz, Sanchez, Escobar,
Pedro Cervantes,
Joseph Garay,
Isaac Gass,
Wesley Maxwell,
Charles Patton, and
Joseph Uc. The women's travel roster consists of Warren, Solano, McGlasson,
Victoria Cheney,
Cantley Gosdin,
Angel Redmond, and
Ava Zindler.
