Muskogee, Okla. - At the end of the second and final day of the Northeastern State Classic, junior Caleb Miller found himself tied for seventh in the 98-golfer field. Miller finished out the second day of competition shooting par or better the entirety of the day. His score of 67 beats his previous record by one stroke, making him the 7th Mulerider in the program's Golf Stat era to shoot a 67 or lower. He finished four strokes under par to record his 15th career par or better round. Additionally, Miller's total of 210 stands tied for the eighth lowest 54-hole total.
With junior Connor Harrington's score of 67 in round one, he and Miller represent the third time that 2 teammates have shot a 67 or better in the same tournament (Evan Bulchalski, 67, RD2; Kyle Gordon, 67, RD1 – 2016 OBU Fall Invite || Roman Timmerman, 67, RD1 - 66 RD2; Kade Johnson, RD3, 67 – 2018 GAC Preview).
Harrington shot a 75 in round two for a total score of 216 to find himself tied for 22nd place. Freshman Luke Cote totaled six birdies throughout the two days of competition and finished out the tournament shooting a 221. He rounded out the three Muleriders who finished in the top-50, concluding his collegiate debut tied for 42nd place. He sat in the top half of the leaderboard with his +3 in all par-3 scoring opportunities as well as his -1 in all par-5 scoring opportunities.
Sophomore Logan McDonald shot an even par 71 in round three and finished with a 225 for the tournament overall. Grad student Drew Reaux shot a 77 in his third and final round and had a total score of 233 for the tournament. McDonald concluded the tournament tied for 61st place and Reaux finished tied for 81st.
Harrington led the team with 11 birdies, followed by Miller with 9. Miller led the Riders with 40 pars with Cote close behind with his 35. Harrington and Miller both had a -1 for all par-3 scoring opportunities. McDonald also shot +1 for all par-5 scoring opportunities. Reaux finished in the top half of the competition with his 34 pars between the two days of play. He shot even for all par-5 scoring opportunities. As a team, SAU ranked second in pars with 172.
The 36-hole team score of 580 is the fourteenth lowest total by the Muleriders in the program's Golf Stat era and is also the third lowest under third year coach Neriah Brown. Their 867 54-hole score is tied for the tenth lowest and is third lowest under Brown.
