Mulerider Men’s Golf finished out day one at Northeastern State Classic

Harrington shoots a personal best round to find himself tied for 11th entering the final round on Tuesday

Muskogee, Okla. - Junior Connor Harrington shot a 67, four shots under par, to find himself in third place following round one at the Northeastern State Golf Classic. Harrington improved his single round record by four strokes and shot in the 60s for the first time in his career. He becomes the sixth player in the program's Golf Stat era to shoot a 67 or better. At the end of the first day, SAU holds a total score of 579 after shooting a 291 in round one and a 289 in round two. The Muleriders currently stand in 11th of 18 teams and ended the day with 110 pars and 24 birdies.

Throughout day one of competition, Harrington recorded 20 pars and eight birdies, including two in a row in round one. He shot +1 in all par-4 scoring opportunities and is currently in second place of the 98 golfers in all par-3 scoring opportunities with a -3. Harrington shot a 74 in round two to total 141 on the day and will enter the second day of competition tied for 11th place.

Another Mulerider to finish in the top-25 is junior Caleb Miller, who rounded out the day tied for 24th place. Miller concluded round one tied for 15th, among 10 other golfers who shot even with par. He shot for par of better nine holes in a row, recording 16 pars and one birdie total in the first round. He shot a 71 in round one and a 72 in round two for a Monday total of 143. He shot -1 in all par-3 scoring opportunities, which is in the top-10, and is in the top half of the leaderboard with his +3 in par-4 scoring opportunities. Miller also ranks in the top 10 in pars, collecting 26 on the day.

On day one of his first collegiate tournament, true freshman Luke Cote started off the second round with nine pars in a row. He went on to shoot three birdies in a row and finish round two shooting a 70. Combined with his 77 strokes from round one, he finished out the day with a total of 147, tied for 42nd place.

Sophomore Logan McDonald shot 81 in round one and improved to 73 strokes in round two for a total score of 154. He totaled five birdies on the day and shot for par 16 times. Grad student Drew Reaux shot 76 in round one and 80 in round two for a total score of 156.

Southern Arkansas will return to the Cherokee Hills Golf Club tomorrow for the final 18 holes to conclude play at the Northeastern State Golf Classic. Fans can find live scoring here.
