MAGNOLIA, Ark. – There will be no love celebrated or even lost for that matter on Monday, February 14 when the Southern Arkansas men's basketball team hosts bitter league rival Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m. in a pivotal Great American Conference contest inside the W.T. Watson Center. However, love will be celebrated off the court as Southern Arkansas University Athletics has announced that it will host its 8
th Annual Community Night on Valentine's Day with FREE admission to the general public.
This year, Mulerider Athletics hosts "Date Night at W.T." and will feature a Valentine's Day theme, with members of SAU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee on hand to pass out candy and flowers in addition to special opportunities throughout the night for couples in attendance to win prizes, including a Couple's Weekend Giveaway courtesy of Mulerider Athletics and River View Cabins and Canoes. Additional prizes include a $100 and $50 gift card.
"Community Night is a special event that we enjoy offering each basketball season," remarked SAU Director of Athletics
Steve Browning. "With us not being able to host an event in person last season and with this year's event once again falling on Valentine's Day, we knew we wanted to give our loyal supporters, many of which are couples with families, an opportunity to enjoy a night out, while cheering on our Men's Basketball team."
Browning added, "The support of our community in general is always tremendous, and we have seen the relationship continue to grow. As fans have been able to return to the W.T. Watson Center, the support has grown to a new level at our basketball games this season. It has been reflected in the home-court advantage and atmosphere that they have created. We look forward to a great turnout!"
