MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Just two games remain on the 2021-2022 regular season schedule for the Southern Arkansas University women's basketball team. The Muleriders 12-14 (7-13 GAC) will hit the road one more time this season as they are set to take on Ouachita Baptist University tonight at 5:30 p.m., followed by Senior Day at home against Arkansas Tech University on Saturday afternoon. SAU currently sits in 10
th place in the Great American Conference standings, with the top eight teams advancing to the GAC tournament.
Despite scoring 65 points or less in their last three contests, SAU still finds themselves as a top 10 scoring team nationally as they sit in 9
th place with 80.1 points per game. The Muleriders have been led by Young (13.2 ppg) and
Diamond Morris (11.6 ppg).
Kylie Warren and
Ariana Guinn are both averaging 9.2 ppg while
Jessica Jones carries an 8.1 ppg average.
SAU has hit 228-of-732 three pointers on the year for 31.1 percent. Five players have hit 30 or more triples with Jones leading the way with 49. Jones holds a 37.7 mark from downtown followed by
Mychala Linzy who is shooting 39.4 percent from three (37-of-94). Warren has connected on 36-of-127 three pointers while
Kenzie Ezekiel has knocked down 33-of-103. Morris rounds out the five players with 30 made threes.
The Muleriders have collected 1086 rebounds this season (460 offensive, 626 defensive). SAU has two players with 115+ boards as Young leads the team with 167 (6.7 per game). Warren ranks second on the team with 115 (4.4 per game), while
Lillie Moore just sits six rebounds shy of 100 with 94. Guinn leads the team in the assist category with 53 on the season, followed by Young with 47.
In their last matchup with the Tigers on December 11, the two teams combined for over 200 points as SAU won 102-99. The Muleriders had five players in double-figures with
Kisi Young (23 points) and
Kenzie Ezekiel (17 points) leading the charge. The Tigers were led by freshman sensation Aspen Thornton with 35. SAU fell 95-84 to ATU back on January 17
th. Young (18 points) and Ezekiel (14 points) also led the team in scoring that night.
Ouachita comes into tonight's games with a 9-15 (7-13 GAC) record. The Tigers are led by true freshman Aspen Thornton who leads the GAC in scoring and ranks second nationally with 22.7 points per game. Thornton dropped 35 points in the last matchup in December. Makayla Miller (15.3 ppg) and Laney Mears (12.1 ppg) have also been key scorers for OUA. Miller leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.3. OUA sits one place behind SAU in 10
th place in the GAC standings.
The Golden Suns are currently 13-11 (10-10 GAC) and will host Henderson State this evening before making the trip to Magnolia on Saturday. ATU currently sits in 7
th place in the GAC standings. ATU is scoring 74.1 points per game and they have been led by three double-digit scores in Kaley Shipman (16.8 ppg), Jayana Sanders (14.7 ppg) and Ashlei Lopez with 13.3 ppg. Nikki Metcalfe leads the Golden Suns in rebounds per game with 5.6.
The Muleriders will honor seven seniors on Saturday after the women's game. The seniors being recognized will include

Doriana Brown,
Lillie Moore and
