Tulsa, Okla. – The Muleriders played through some unpleasant conditions at the Tulsa Cup these past two days, finishing out Round 1 in a downpour and playing through harsh winds in Round 2, but junior Caleb Miller seemed unphased, finishing out the tournament 1 stroke under par at 143. Miller carried the Muleriders to their sixth-place finish (17 teams) with single round scores of 70 and 73 that found him tied for third place in the 88-player field.
Southern Arkansas fished tied for the 2nd most pars made at 104 and finished 5th with their +27 at par 4s. The team concluded play with a cumulative score of 607 (+31) following rounds of 292 and 315.
Miller started off the second round of play by birdying the first two holes and proceeded to finish out the next 16 holes with 13 made pars. Throughout the two rounds of play, he shot -3 at par-5 scoring opportunities and +1 at par-3 and 4s. He recorded the most pars of the competition with 27 while recording a solid five birdies and averaging 4.63 at par 5s which landed him tied for 2nd in the tournament.
Sophomore Logan McDonald played another solid sound of golf on day 2, finishing 4 strokes above par at 76, to finish tied for 16th with his cumulative score of 150. McDonald shot +3 at par-3s, +2 at par-4s, and +1 at par-5s. He recorded seven birdies between the 36 holes as well as 17 pars.
Freshman Luke Cote shot just one stroke over his Round 1 score to finish 41st with a total 155 after rounds of 77 and 78. He found his most success at par-5 scoring opportunities, shooting even after the two rounds. Sophomore Alex Gerrard finished Round 2 with an 82 to finish with a 156 tied for 48th place. He shot +2 at par-3 scoring opportunities, +6 at par-4s, +4 at par-5s and notched 4 birdies. Connor Harrington finished tied for 59th following a Round 2 score of 84 to finish with a 158. Harrington shot for par an impressive 23 times and found his most success at par-5 scoring opportunities where he shot +3 and par-4s where he shot +4. Senior Brendan Little recorded an impressive feat, standing as one of six golfers to make and eagle at the Tulsa Cup. His round of 79 and 85 (164 total) landed him tied for 78th. Little shot +1 at par-5 scoring opportunities and recorded 20 made pars.
The Tulsa Cup represents the final tournament scheduled for the Muleriders in the fall; the season will resume with action beginning in February.
