Tulsa, Okla. – The Mulerider Men's Golf team concluded round 1 at the Tulsa Cup in second place of 17 teams after shooting 291, just four strokes above par and just one stroke behind GAC-rival Henderson State. The men had impressive showings throughout and junior Caleb Miller led the team once again, finishing the first day of competition in the top-5 and just one stroke shy of first place.
Miller finished round one tied for third place in the 88-golfer field after shooting 2 under par at 70 to record his 17th career round at par or better. Miller shot for par or birdied all but one hole, recording three birdies and 14 pars in the first round of competition. Miller's even at par-3s and par-4s and -2 at par 5s placed him in the top of the field while his 14 pars stand as the second most in the competition.
Junior Connor Harrington and sophomores Logan McDonald and Alex Gerrard finished the first day of play at the Tulsa Cup tied for 12th place with their rounds of 74 (+2). Harrington shot +1 at par-3 and par-4 scoring opportunities and shot even at par-5s while recording 13 made pars. McDonald shot +1 at par-3s, +2 at par-4s, and -1 at par-5s while recording a dozen pars. Both Harrington and McDonald collected a pair of birdies. Gerrard shot even at par-3 scoring opportunities and +1 at par-4s and par-5s. He recorded 10 made pars and three birdies.
Freshman Luke Cote shot 77 (+5) to find himself tied for 32nd place after the first day of play. Cote shot +1 at par-3s and -1 at par-5s and recorded 11 pars and a pair of birdies. Senior Brendan Little finished out the first round tied for 50th after shooting 79 (+7) recording the third most pars of the competition at 13. Little shot +1 at par-3 scoring opportunities and -1 at par-5s.
