Muleriders to host Tigers, Savage Storm this weekend

Magnolia, Ark. - The Muleriders host their first pair of games for the 2019 calendar year as they take on East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State this Thursday and Saturday, respectively. 

The Tigers of East Central are 9-3 on the season and 4-2 in GAC play. The Tigers are coming off a weekend were they had a home sweep of Harding and Arkansas Tech by a combined 11 points. The Tigers are led by a pair of players who have been named GAC Players of the Week, Lakin Preisner and Tia Williams. Preisner and Williams lead the Tigers in scoring, averaging 14.3 and 12.0 points per game, respectively. Preisner also leads the Tigers' effort on the glass (9.0 rebounds per game) and in the playmaking department (3.3 assists per game). 

Southeastern Oklahoma are 7-4 on the season and 5-2 in GAC. The Savage Storm, like East Central, swept Arkansas Tech and Harding at home by a combined 27 points. The Savage Storm have three players averaging over 10 points per game: Katie Webb (20.0 points per game), Kamryn Cantwell (14.0 points per game) and Briley Moon (10.8 points per game). Webb is leading the team on the boards, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game, and Cantwell is leading the team in assists with 3.3 assists per game. Four of the five starters for the Storm have started all 11 games this season. 

The Muleriders come into this weekend with a 1-11 overall record and an 0-6 record in the GAC. The Muleriders dropped both of their games this past weekend against Northwest Oklahoma and Southwest Oklahoma. 

The Muleriders are led in the scoring department by freshman guard Ariana Guinn, who is averaging 10.9 points per game. Senior Alyssa Crase leads the team effort in rebounding, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. Redshirt sophomore Brette Wacha became the first Mulerider to hit 5 three-pointers in a game this season against NWOSU, and Jerica Bell set a career-high point total in the same game.

The Muleriders will go on the road to take on Arkansas-Monticello next Thursday before coming home to take on Harding next Saturday.
