KINGSTON, Okla. – Freshmen golfers
Evan Buchalski and
Kevin Elder each registered their first career top-10 individual finishes after Buchalski placed sixth overall and Elder tied for seventh overall at the three-round Texoma Championships hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort in Kingston, Okla.
Buchalski and Elder, who were the SAU's top two finishers, helped the Muleriders finish the tournament in a tie for fourth-place with Rogers State as the two schools each finished with three-round scores of 913. That team score was also just two strokes back of third-place Missouri Southern State who shot 911 as a team.
Behind Buchalski and Elder was senior
Jacob Etherington who finished 17th overall. Etherington's classmate
Kirk Peterson was next and six strokes back as he finished tied for 29th-place.
Junior
Luke Williams lowered his score once more in the third and final round as he fired a 79 (+7) on Tuesday. In the opening round, Williams carded an 81 (+9) then lost a stroke in the second round with an 80 (+8).
The Muleriders will be back in action in two weeks' time as they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas to take part in the Midwestern State Invitational which will be held at the Wichita Falls Country Club from October 19-20.
